COT22 photographers have you covered…

This year’s Classic Outback Trial will be well covered pictorially with four of our most prolific and well known rally photographers covering the action. Let’s say hello to them!

Ian Smith, one of Australia’s preeminent motorsport photographers and our official COT photographer, is almost part of the furniture in COT circles and Ian will again be on hand at Rally HQ in Parkes for a couple of days leading up to the event, the action out on the stages each day, as well as the social functions, including the briefings and presentation. Ian will be ably assisted by former Victorian Rally Champion and also an ace photographer from the 1970’s, who is still a pretty dab hand behind the lens, Chris Brown.

As he has done in previous Classic Outback Trial, Ian will be assembling some of his fantastic images and offering them for sale on USB sticks after the event. He usually includes 120 or so images of the competition and social occasions and importantly Ian will include lots of images of your car and your crew that you can share. Ian will need to know about your interest in this offer before the event, so it may be worth your while contacting him through email at autopix@bigpond.com or chatting to him before the start.

Rallysport Magazine’s editor, Peter Whitten has shown his hand as an excellent photographer as well as a writer. Peter is looking forward to attending his first (and last!) Classic Outback Trial, and will be capturing images of your car that tell the story of the event. Peter will cover the Classic Outback Trial for a few days until he needs to shoot through to Canberra for the opening round of the Australian Rally Championship on the Thursday.

If you’d like photos of your car in action, get in touch with Peter at peter@rallysportmag.com.au, or via direct message on Facebook.

Photos will also be made available after the event at www.peterwhittenphotography.com

Likewise with Roy Meuronen from Canberra. Roy plans to cover the Classic Outback Trial in the Orange and Bathurst areas at least on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – and like Peter, the calling of the ARC takes him away from us on Friday. Roy has a great website which all his images are posted so you can on-line purchase (digital downloads or prints) from his website at: roymeuronenphotography.com.au/motorsport

Contact Roy if you would like to discuss any special requirements for images at: roy@meuronen.com

Our resident reporter/photographer this year will be Bruce Keys. Bruce will be collecting stories and information and your stage comments as well as snapping the odd shot. You should see Bruce at all sorts of places including stage finishes, service points and lunchbreaks.

We will be editing up a short report of each days competition will upload it one to the COT website as soon as we can each night. So if you see Bruce around, don’t be backwards in coming forwards with some “good oil” for the nightly COT report!
