Classic Outback Trial again postponed

For immediate release
January 15th, 2021

As with numerous community activities around the country being cancelled or postponed owing to the adverse effects of COVID-19, the Classic Outback Trial has again been postponed, principally as a result of the uncertainty of State borders being closed.

Due to be conducted in the Central Western Region of New South Wales in early March, after being postponed from August 2020, the organisers have again been forced to postpone the event to late August 2021.

The Classic Outback Trial attracted 60 crews from 5 states to compete in the 7 day Special Stage Rally.

“It’s imperative that competitors, service crews and officials have a high degree of confidence in being able to freely cross borders to and from New South Wales and this is not possible with the current and foreseeable uncertain environment”, said Phil Bernadou the event organiser.

Open borders are important so that the event retains its popularity among the competitor base and to maximise the opportunities for the local communities to capitalise on the 300 plus people who are involved.

The Classic Outback Trial will now be scheduled for August 2021, starting in Parkes on Sunday 22nd before moving to Orange on Tuesday 24th for 2 days and then to Bathurst on Thursday 26th and finishing here on Saturday 28th.

Rally and Regularity Supp Regs updated for NCR changes

Supplementary Regulations for both COT21 Rally and COT21 Regularity have been updated.

Motorsport Australia recently revised the National Competition Rules (NCR’s) reducing the number of Articles from 241 to 113 and bringing the streamlined document aligning more closely with the recently updated FIA’s International Sporting Code and this will result in greater consistency from grassroots to the international levels of the sport. The revised NCR’s will be applicable from 1 January 2021.

Classic Outback Trial Pty Ltd has therefore updated both the COT 2021 and COT Regularity 2021 regulations to bring them in line with the revised NCR’s.

No other changes have been made to either set of regulations.

COT21 Rally Supplementary Regulations v4 are available from the Rally Docs and Forms page.

COT21 Regularity Supplementary Regulations v3 are available from the Regularity Docs and Forms page.
