COT March survey – days 1 and 2

We have had a good start to the COT 2014 March survey – we have sorted some important arrangements in Parkes at the same time, we’ve managed to do what we need to do without weather impact.

Our first two nights were based at The Comfort Inn Bushman’s in Parkes – our Rally headquarters in the Elvis capital of Australia. This will be a great Rally HQ – we have an excellent conference room with lots of space for pre-event documentation and getting the event on the road.

Parkes Nissan will provide our pre-event scrutiny venue for Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Jon and his team will clear a couple of hoists for us and offer a good drive through facility to keep things moving.

We have found a fantastic prologue – a challenging 7 kilometre forest stage just out of Parkes – crews will really enjoy this “very real” shakedown on Saturday afternoon.

The City of Parkes is hosting our welcome function and we checked out the venue at the Parkes Services Club. It is a great room and the team at the Services Club are already planning a warm welcome…

On the way to Condobolin we stopped at Utes in the Paddock at Ootha and then went on to visit Heugh at Overland. Heugh has been a great supporter of the event since 2009 and this year is no exception – Overland and Emu Chase will be, as usual, fantastic stages.

And finally, at the end of day two, we are at the Railway Motel, in Condobolin. The Railway is Rally in Condo and we’ve spent time with Kim, our hostess at the Railway, working through accommodation bookings and arrangements for the COT in Condo.

We’re having fun. Oh yeah… and we’re working hard!
