Following four Covid-19 induced postponements, the Classic Outback Trial is set to go from 27 March to 2 April 2022.
The Classic Outback Trial is actually 3 events in one – a Special Stage Rally, a Regularity Rally and a Tagalong Tour – ensuring that it provides something for a wide range of motorsport and motoring enthusiasts.
All three events cover a period of 7 days, starting in Parkes in NSW on Sunday 27 March, then moving to Orange, before finishing on Saturday 2 April in the New South Wales’ motorsport Mecca, Bathurst.
The Special Stage Rally will see competitors cover 750km of 5 Special Stages per day. The Rally is open to all types and configurations of cars.
The Classic Outback Trial is not just an outback trial for historic and classic cars – it’s actually a modern, special stage rally which has been designed to include modern 2WD and 4WD rally cars.
In fact everything from Cross Country Off Road vehicles to modern turbocharged, four-wheel-drive rally cars are eligible. In fact the category is named the “Allcomers Category”, and for good reason.
The Classic Outback Trial caters for those who want an old-fashioned rally experience, but with no night time competition (no need for driving lights) and plenty of sleep each night.
Those competitors not interested in Special Stage Rallying can compete in the Regularity Rally. This event, while using some of the Special Stage Rally event roads as well as many bitumen and gravel shire roads, has been specifically designed to ensure that drivers and their co-drivers must work together in varying average speed sections to arrive at a control point at precisely a designated time.
Speed limits are rigidly enforced in the Regularity Rally.
For those keen to experience a great trek without the need for a modified rally car, the Tagalong Tour is designed for the enjoyment of the atmosphere of the Classic Outback Trial – the camaraderie, the scenery and the good old outdoor life of the Central West Region of New South Wales and to experience all that with a minimum of fuss. All accommodation, meals and skilled guides are provided.
Yes, the Classic Outback trail has something for everyone, including you!
What are you waiting for? Time is running out for participation in any of the categories and classes.
