The latest entry in the 2020 Classic Outback Trail is the Mercedes Benz 450 SLC of South Australians Stuart Bowes and co-driver Jeremy Browne.
The pair will try their luck in the big 5.0 litre V8 Merc over the seven days of the Classic Outback Trial which starts early in November and is based around Parkes, Orange & Bathurst in the Central West of NSW.

Despite attempts to conduct the event during the original period of mid-August, the 7 day, all daylight special stage rally, plus the regularity event conducted in conjunction with the Trial, will now be held from November 1 – 7, 2020.
Continue readingAn exciting initiative for the 2020 Classic Outback Trail will be the introduction of the Allcomers category, aimed at encouraging competitors to get their cars out of the garage and re-engage in rallying!
It will be similar to the Allcomers Category which is used in many New Zealand rallies and has proven to be popular and is keenly contested. The category caters for a wide variety of cars of varying technical specifications, but with modern safety engineering being a cornerstone of the category.

The Event Director of Australia’s only remaining marathon gravel special stage rally, Philip Bernadou, has announced that the next Classic Outback Trial to be run from March 7 to 13 2021, will be his last.
Continue readingContinue readingThe Classic Outback Trial, a gravel daylight Special Stage rally for Classic and “Allcomers” rally cars will be held in Central Western Region of New South Wales. During its 7 days of competition it will overnight at the regional cities of Parkes, Orange and Bathurst.
The 7th Classic Outback Trial (COT), a bi-annual event, will be conducted between 7th and 15th August next year, and will return to mid-New South Wales after being centred at Alice Springs in the Northern Territory in 2016 and 2018.
Starting in Parkes and finishing in Bathurst, the 7 day gravel rally will be run over 33 special stages, ranging in length up to 60 kilometres. These stages will be conducted on private property, forestry and public roads.

COT Pre-Regulations for Classic and Modern Competitions were updated and re-issued on 30 July 2019. While there were a number of corrections, the updated document does contain some important changes over the version first in relation to vehicle eligibility.
