All systems go for COT18…

Jorge Perez Companc, Ford RS1800

Argentinian Jorge Perez Companc has nominated the fabulous Viking Motorsport Ford Escort RS1800 for COT18.

This time 12 months ago we were recovering from a challenging but ultimately successful 2016 edition of the Classic Outback Trial (COT) despite mother nature doing her best to intervene.

Now the cogs are well and truly in motion as we look ahead to the 2018 event, and with just over a month until the early bird offer closes on July 31, 2017 we can confirm we’ve received 25 nominations to contend the 6.5 days of competition in Australia’s Red Centre from August 18-25, 2018.

We’re pleased to announce that our Modern and Classic class winners from 2016 are returning to defend their title. Peter Neal is back in the WRX Subaru while Bathurst son and father duo Andrew and David Travis will seek to win their third successive COT and fourth overall in their V6 powered Nissan Gazelle.

Andrew and David Travis

COT16 victors, Andrew and David Travis, will be back to defend their title.

One of many crews chasing them will be the international entry of popular Argentinian Jorge Perez Companc in his Viking Motorsport prepared Ford Escort RS1800, who set some staggering stage times during his first COT appearance in 2016 before retiring with engine failure late in the event. Meanwhile the rapid Andy Crane will be hoping to go one better in 2018 and take his Peugeot 504 to the top step of the podium.

Encouraging signs are that we have several first time COT competitors who have nominated for 2018, including the very experienced Hilary Evans in his Datsun 1600 SSS, Col Desbrow in a 1973 Ford Fairlane and Jo Worth/Heather Worth in their Volvo 122S Amazon.

These are just a few of the exciting names and vehicles we look forward to seeing in Alice Springs.

With early bird entries closing on July 31, 2017, time is limited to take advantage of this discount offer.

See our Documents and Forms page for nomination forms, terms and conditions.
