The 2016 Classic Outback Trial will conduct fund raising activities during the event for White Ribbon Australia, the COT16 charity partner.
White Ribbon Australia is a male led campaign to end men’s violence against women. White Ribbon runs a range of education programs and activities, including Workplace programs, activities with schools and young people as well as through events like COT16.
As a White Ribbon partner, the Classic Outback Trial will not only progress the campaign with people involved in the event, we will be actively fundraising for the much needed support White Ribbon needs.
“We were introduced to White Ribbon Australia though our relationship with NT Department of Correctional Services” COT16 Event Director, Philip Bernadou said.
“Correctional Services are a White Ribbon accredited workplace and run a number of programs and initiatives. White Ribbon do critically important work and they were an obvious choice when we were looking for a charity partner to support.” Bernadou added.
Fundraising will include a donation to White Ribbon from each competitor’s entry fee. We’ll have White Ribbon merchandise and information available at Documentation and will be conducting an auction to benefit White Ribbon at the presentation dinner.
COT16 trophies and merchandise are being made in the Industries Section at the Alice Springs Correctional Centre who will also provide welding and car wash services at the Lasseters Service Park. Proceeds from these services will go to White Ribbon.
There will be more information on the auction and how COT16 crews can support White Ribbon before the event begins.
