  • Monday to Friday: 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm
  • Saturday and Public Holidays: 10:00 am to 9:00 pm
  • Sunday, from pubs with drive-throughs and clubs only: 12:00 md to 9:00 pm

You may need to provide photo id to buy takeaway alcohol. You will need to provide photo id if you buy restricted items, such as cask or fortified wine.

You may also be asked by a Policeman or Policewoman where you’re taking the alcohol.

Drinking alcohol in public places in Alice Springs is banned and attracts penalties. Public areas include streets, parks and car parks.

While some of these restrictions may seem onerous to those of us from other jurisdictions, alcohol related crime and violence are serious problems in the NT. These restrictions have delivered positive results since their introduction.
