The field for the 2016 Classic Outback Trial is shaping up as the best ever for the event. Since entries opened we’ve recently received entries from:
Richard Bennett & Matt James-Wallace
We last saw Richard’s spectacular Mustang on the 2014 Sydney to London – he and Matt James-Wallace will be competing in Classic. Richard and Matt hail from WA.
Greg and co-driver Adrian Barwell, both from NSW, will be running their VC Commodore in Regularity. They’re used to long distances – this pic is from the 2012 London- Cape Town rally.
Luke will be driving the Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort 260Z, with Gordon Trigg taking the left seat. Geoff will be there as service crew manager and will probably giving a bit of fatherly advice too. It’s wonderful to have the Coconut Car Racing Team back in action…
Ian and Mike will be back in their pretty Toyota Celica. Ian and Mike have unfinished COT business after an engine failure stopped their COT2014 on day 1 – the Celica will be very well prepared for COT16.
Team Swan will be running a two car Volvo team – Ian and Colin have entered a red 244. This team has a bit of experience in this part of the world – they won the 93 Australian Safari in a Nissan Patrol.
Murray and Paul are from Far North QLD. They’ll be bringing their Mitsubishi Pajero and competing in Cross Country.
A very warm welcome to these teams… we’re looking forward to seeing you all in Alice Springs!
There have been a few withdrawls as well – with ins and outs we are currently at 57 entries… a strong 41 cars in Classic, 7 in Modern, 6 in Cross Country and 5 in Regularity.
A great mix and all building up to an exciting field and wonderful spectacle for COT16!
