Getting your dirty laundry sorted

It’s often difficult to get your laundry sorted when you’re travelling. Hotel services can be expensive and sometimes, it can be difficult to find a laundromat that’s open when you need it. Here are a few options we’ve found around Alice Springs that may help.

Wash For U

This service has worked very well for us on survey trips – we’ve simply dropped in a bag of laundry on the way out of town and picked it up later that day or the next morning. Wash For U return it all nicely washed, dried and folded and their charge per bag is very reasonable, starting at $25.00.

We’ll talk with Wash For U the next time we’re in Alice Springs to see if they can do an overnight dry cleaning run during the event for race suits. More on that later.

Lasseters

Lasseters have two guest laundries – one in block 3 and one behind hotel reception. They use $1 coins and you can buy detergent.  Questions and queries to Lasseters reception.

Laundromats

There are a couple of laundromats around Alice Springs. This one is easy to find – it’s right next to the BP Service Station:

Buy more…

There’s a Kmart, Target, Big W and a plenty of other stores around town. Don’t worry about doing your laundry, just go and buy some clean stuff.
