We were thrilled to receive three more nominations in the past two weeks. All three are COT “first timers”, all from very different parts of the world and in very different cars.
We’d like to welcome…
Ben, from Alice Springs, will run his newly acquired VR Commodore in Classic Outback Modern.
Ben comes from a local motorsport background and is involved in dirt karting, he’s an active member of the Central Australian Rally Sport Club and is an “up and coming young charger”.
We now have three Alice Springs crews nominated from CARS – that’s a great effort for a small, newly CAMS-affiliated club.
Wales-based Escort specialist and 2003 WRC champion co-driver, Phil Mills of Viking Motorosport, has nominated. He’ll be bringing one of his amazing Mk2 Escort RS 1800s, to be driven by recent WRC driver, Jorge Perez Companc from Argentina.
Jorge and co-driver Jose Volta came 5th in a Viking Motorsport Escort in the Morocco Classic Rally earlier this year. And, they’ll be competing in the East African Safari Classic starting in Nairobi in a couple of weeks. Viking Motorsport is running four Escorts at the EASC.
They’ll all be in very good form…
Many will know Stuart for his impressive motorsport photography – he’s spent the past 25 years shooting the WRC and F1 all over the world and the ARC at home.
Stuart, from Adelaide SA, is getting behind the wheel in 2016 and is building a 1979 Mercedes 450SLC. Looking at this progress pic, it’s going to be impressive.
With Stuart’s 450, we now have three Mercedes coupes nominated for COT16.
Thank you and a big COT welcome to Ben, Phil, Jorge, Stuart and their teams – it’s great to have you with us.
We now have 51 nominations for COT16, including 5 international teams.
