The postman has been kind to us recently, delivering more nominations for the 2016 Classic Outback Trial. We’d like to welcome…
Justin, from Queensland, will be running his Datsun Stanza in Classic. The Stanza is a Shekhar Mehta replica and Justyn’s last outing was the 2013 Alpine, where he set some very good times. And yes, he is related to 50% of our four-man organising committee.
John Bruinsma will be bringing his spectacular VE SS Commodore to Alice Springs to compete in Modern, with Roger McNaughton co-driving. John has run the Commodore in the ARC in recent years – and was certainly a big hit with spectators.
We met Jiri Kotek from the Czech Republic during the 2014 Sydney to London when he ran in a spectacularly well prepared Datsun 260Z with Ondrej Coufal. Jiri will be bringing two crews to COT 2016:
a 1972 Mercedes 350SLC to be driven by Danish racing driver, Jac Nellemann. Jac competed in Formula 1 in the 70s and more recently in the East African Safari.
Thank you and a hearty COT welcome to these entrants and teams. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to Alice Springs in June.
That takes us to 48, with a number of “likelies” still to land. We don’t have the luxury of an unlimited field, so don’t leave it too long to lodge your nomination.
And no, it wasn’t really the postman…
