Hashtagging the COT…

hashtag-bubbleWhat do the British College of Occupational Therapists and the Classic Outback Trial have in common?

Well, we’re both holding important events in June 2016 – theirs is an annual conference in Harrogate and ours is the rally in Alice Springs.

But it’s not Harrogate and rallying that’s the connection. (Note for youngsters – Google “From Harrogate it started”)

Our problem is that our two organisation names start with similar letters and up until recently, we were using the same hashtag, #COT2016, to tag social media posts.

While that’s not such an issue now, it will certainly get confusing up closer to the event – for both groups. So, we’ve decided to leave the #COT2016 to the fine folk at BA/COT.

From now on we’ll use #COT16 to tag social media posts related to the Classic Outback Trial – and we ask you to use it too.

We’ll also be using #classic #modern #regularity and #crosscountry for posts about those categories, #cotcrews and #cotofficialsmakeithappen for posts about COT people and #cottours for posts about tours and things to see around Alice Springs. And maybe others…

If you’re posting about the event please tag your post with #COT16 – now, in the lead up, during or after the event. It shares your post further and it helps pull all the COT commentary together – check out the #COT16 tagboard to see what we mean.

Not sure about #hastags? Here is a bit of an intro: How to Hashtag…

That’s it! Good luck to the BA/COT – hope the #COT2016 conference in Harrogate goes well!
