Ted and Joel Perkins will be running the 2014 Classic Outback Trial in a Mark 1 Lotus Cortina. Their car is progressing and is pictured above ready for a trip to the panel beaters for a coat of paint. Ted and Joel will be running in pre 68 HRC class.
“The car is the mk1 Lotus Cortina that we’ve had for ten years. I stuck it into a tree on the 2011 Alpine and it has been a slow rebuild.” said Ted. “Like everything, you need to have an event to aim at, or they just don’t get finished.”
The red and yellow car is Ted’s 1964 Lotus Cortina, a group Nb historic touring car. This car had just a class winning weekend at Phillip Island when the pic was taken. And, Ted will be racing it at Easter at Bathurst.
“We’re re painting the rally car in the same colours” said Ted.
Like many of the COT father/son-daughter crews, there has been lots of discussion about who will drive and who will co-drive. “Yes, Joel will be co driving. He wants to drive, but I’m paying the bills” laughed Ted.
Thanks for the pic Ted – please send more as the build progresses.
