COT regulars Mark Pickering and David Boddy debut their Sydney to London car in Rally Victoria

Classic Outback Trial regulars, Mark Pickering and David Boddy, had a successful debut run and Sydney to London shake down in their Datsun 260Z in Rally Victoria this weekend. Rally Victoria, held in the forests just north east of Melbourne, was the final round of the 2013 Australian Rally Championship.

Mark and David will be running the 260Z in Sydney to London Classic Marathon Rally, which starts in Sydney on April 12 next year. The car has just been completed and they entered the “Classics” category in Rally Victoria as a shake down and to learn a bit more about the new car.

Mark and David made steady progress throughout the event, clinching 4th classic in the last forest stage in heat 2.

Mark was happy with the run and said that he “…feels much more comfortable in the car.”

Mark has already entered for the 2014 Classic Outback Trial.

At the end of Rally Victoria Mark revealed his intention to run the 260Z in the 2014 COT – provided it arrives back in Australia in time, after the Sydney to London.

“But, even if it doesn’t, I am not missing the COT,” Mark said.

“I have a backup plan – I still have the Datsun 1600 we ran in the 2012 Classic Outback Trial.”

Congratulations Mark and Dave on the Rally Victoria run… And on the car – it looked and sounded great in the Noojee forests.
