Parkes to host the start of 2014 Classic Outback Trial

After three years of Forbes being the home for the Classic Outback Trial, in 2014 the start of the event is moving just 36 kilometres up the Newell Highway to the “Elvis capital of Australia”, Parkes NSW.

COT competitors and officials alike will enjoy what Parkes has to offer, including superior accommodation and a great 5 km prologue stage on the outskirts of town. Parkes will also host a welcome function on Saturday night and the main street will be closed on the Sunday morning for the start of the event.

COT organisers met with Parkes Tourism on several occasions in planning for the Sydney to London Marathon – Parkes is their first overnight stop. The accommodation on offer and the location of a prologue were major factors in deciding to move the event north.

The team at Parkes Tourism, based at the Henry Parkes Centre., will be on hand to help competitors with accommodation bookings. Rally Headquarters will be at the Comfort Inn Bushman’s on Peak Hill Road, Parkes.
